Day 2: Tarangire National Park – The Land of Giants
After an early breakfast, your safari guide will pick you up and drive you to Tarangire National Park, a journey of approximately 2.5 hours on well-paved roads. Named after the Tarangire River that runs through it, this park is a haven for wildlife, particularly during the dry season when animals gather around the river for water.
Expect to see large elephant herds, majestic giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, bushbucks, and hartebeest, along with predators such as lions and leopards. The park is also a paradise for bird lovers, boasting the highest number of breeding bird species in the world. You’ll also witness the awe-inspiring Baobab trees, some over a thousand years old.
After an exhilarating game drive and a picnic lunch in the park, you will head to Karatu for the night.
Accommodation: Eileen’s Tree Inn (Mid-range)
Meals & Drinks: All meals included, drinks not included
Day 3: Ngorongoro Crater – A Lost World of Wildlife
After breakfast, your journey continues into the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, home to one of the world’s most breathtaking natural wonders – Ngorongoro Crater. This vast, unbroken caldera was formed millions of years ago by the collapse of a giant volcano.
Descending 600 meters to the crater floor, you’ll find yourself in the heart of an extraordinary ecosystem, teeming with wildlife. Expect to encounter large herds of wildebeest, zebras, gazelles, buffaloes, and hippos, as well as hyenas, cheetahs, and jackals. The crater also offers the best opportunity to spot the rare and endangered black rhino.
Enjoy a scenic picnic lunch at a designated site within the crater before continuing your game drive. Later, you will return to your lodge in Karatu for a well-earned rest.
Accommodation: Eileen’s Tree Inn (Mid-range)
Meals & Drinks: All meals included, drinks not included
Day 4: Lake Manyara National Park – A Hidden Gem
Following breakfast, you will head to Lake Manyara National Park, a compact yet diverse wildlife sanctuary located at the base of the Great Rift Valley escarpment. This park is famous for its tree-climbing lions, an unusual behavior found in only a few places in Africa.
Lake Manyara itself, a shallow alkaline lake, is home to thousands of flamingos and over 500 bird species. The park’s lush forests provide shelter for elephants, baboons, blue monkeys, and bushbucks, while the open grassy floodplains attract herds of buffalo, giraffes, and zebras.
After a final game drive and a picnic lunch within the park, your guide will drive you back to Arusha or drop you off at Kilimanjaro International Airport or Arusha Airport for your onward journey.
